How do we accept a roster spot?

You do not need to email an acceptance. Unless you tell us otherwise, we will plan on your player joining the team; the signed parent/player contract and completed payment confirm acceptance. If you will not accept, email charltonwildcatsbasketball@gmail.com as soon as possible so the spot can be offered to another player.

How do we register and pay?

  1. Open the private offer link in your congratulations email. This enrollment is part of TeamSideline but is not available through the public registration page on charltonbasketball.com.
  2. Sign in to your Charlton Youth Basketball/TeamSideline account, or create an account if you do not have one.
  3. If your child is not listed in your account, add your child as a participant before continuing.
  4. Select your child and the exact team/offering named in your email. Do not choose another team.
  5. Complete the enrollment steps and read and sign the required parent/player contract.
  6. Complete checkout through TeamSideline using a debit or credit card. Keep your confirmation receipt.

Payment and the contract are due Wednesday, November 25, 2026. Players cannot start the season without payment. If you cannot find your private offer email or encounter a checkout problem, contact Wildcats with your player's name, team, and a screenshot or description of the problem.

What is the Wildcats fee?

The standard fee is $220. Grades 4–6 receive a $25 Wildcats discount because Rec participation is required, bringing the Wildcats fee to $195. If your email directs you to a standard-fee offering, use that offering and the $220 fee stated in your email. Uniforms and Rec registration are separate.

Can grades 7–8 receive the Rec discount?

Yes. If your seventh- or eighth-grader also registers for Rec, email Wildcats with a picture of the Rec receipt attached to request a $25 Wildcats discount code before paying. If you have already paid Wildcats, we can refund the $25 after receiving the receipt. If you are waiting for middle-school tryouts, usually in early December, still pay Wildcats by November 25 and contact us about the discount once your Rec plans are confirmed.

Where do we choose or check a jersey number?

Open the individual team jersey-number sheet linked in your congratulations email before ordering. Find your child's name and check the returning number listed. New and returning players may choose an available number from 0–99, first come, first served, by entering it beside their child's name. Do not change another player's entry.

Red means a duplicate on your own team: resolve it before ordering. If the number is already taken on your team, choose another available number. Alert your coach about a conflict; your coach will notify the Wildcats Directors.

For Boys 6 and Boys 7, your sheet also shows numbers on the other team, Maroon (A) or Gold (B). Different numbers are preferred, particularly for new players, to make movement between teams easier. A duplicate across the two teams is allowed and highlighted in pale yellow. If those players later join the same team, the player with longer Wildcats tenure keeps the number; equal tenure is resolved with a random generator.

Boys 8 and single-team divisions only need unique numbers within their own team. Numbers on the other eighth-grade team do not restrict your choice.

How and when do we order uniforms?

Once your number is recorded and any same-team conflict is resolved, order through Order your Wildcats uniform here: Charlton Basketball Custom Sublimated Reversible Jersey and Reversible Shorts. If you need a uniform, order by Sunday, October 18, 2026 to help ensure arrival for the season.

Sizing is not standard and tends to run large. The measurements in the store's sizing guide are accurate. Measure your player according to that guide rather than ordering by their usual clothing size.

New Boys 8 Gold (B) players: do not order uniforms until a head coach is confirmed. Waiting may mean uniforms arrive a bit later, but we do not want families spending money if the team cannot move forward.

Who is our coach?

Your congratulations email identifies the head coach where confirmed. Look for communication from your coach as the season approaches. Coaches will provide team-specific practice and game information.

Boys 4 and Girls 5 families interested in coaching should email Wildcats with why they would be a good fit, relevant experience, and whether they prefer head coach or assistant coach. Boys 8 Gold (B) still needs a head coach; filling that role is essential to getting the season underway. Please contact Wildcats if you can help.

Practices and Season Schedule

The official season begins the first week of December. Ad hoc practices may begin in late October or early November. Your coach will communicate those opportunities directly.

Regular practice nights will be finalized around mid-November, after Rec teams are finalized. We do not yet know which nights each team will practice. Gym time is extremely limited, and scheduling priority runs from older to younger Maroon (A) teams, followed by older to younger Gold (B) teams.

Please share any scheduling constraints with your head coach, who will work with the Wildcats Directors. We do our best to accommodate coaches’ requests, but specific practice nights cannot be guaranteed.

How do we receive team communications?

Download the TeamSideline Team Sites app and sign in with the same email address used for registration. Once your player is connected to the team, you can follow schedules, updates and coach communications there.

If the team does not appear immediately, it may still be awaiting roster assignment. Instructions for adding another parent/guardian contact will be shared separately; do not create a second paid enrollment for the same child.

What should we understand about roster decisions?

Wildcats is a competitive program. Multiple volunteer evaluators work hard to evaluate players fairly. Team placement considers evaluations, team needs, competitiveness, team fit and development. Returning players are not guaranteed the same placement or a roster spot each year. Read the competitive-program and roster-decisions section of the contract.

Is playing time equal or guaranteed?

Every player is valued, but playing time is not necessarily equal and is not guaranteed. Coaches consider effort, attendance, development, readiness, team needs and game situations. Roles and minutes may change during the season. Encourage your player to ask their coach what they can work on. Wildcats practices and games should be a priority.

Please review the contract together before signing. It sets the expectations we will refer to if issues arise during the season. Follow the 24-hour rule for concerns after games or incidents, speak respectfully with the coach first, and contact the Directors if an issue remains unresolved.

What if my player was not offered a spot?

We know this is disappointing. A selection decision does not define a player's potential. Keep playing and developing through Rec and other opportunities. Visit the CYB website for Rec registration. This page is general information, not a roster offer; only enroll in Wildcats if you received an offer.

Is Rec required?

Grades 4–6 must also play Rec unless they make a CMS or another middle-school basketball team. Grades 7–8 are welcome and encouraged to play Rec. Register for Rec separately through the CYB website.

Still need help?

Please first read your entire email, go through all enrollment steps, and review this FAQ and the contract. To protect our volunteers' time, questions already answered in those materials will generally not receive an additional individual reply. We will follow up on issues that need individual attention, including declined spots, discount requests and enrollment problems.
